About

How It Started

I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of exploring other countries — I remember staying up late just to catch The Amazing Race as a kid, wondering what it would be like to set foot in places so different from home.
But growing up, travel wasn’t something my family did often. Up till the ripe old age of 21, I had only been on one family trip (when I was 9), and two school trips. Travel was never something I needed or even really thought about. Singapore is safe, comfortable, and home sweet home — nothing else could beat that… or so I thought.

That changed in 2018.

I joined a rare second family trip to Taiwan at the last minute — it was with my grandma and extended family, so I didn’t want to miss the opportunity. But when I landed and reached the hotel, I found out there wasn’t much of a plan. No clear itinerary, just vague ideas of what we might do.

That sparked the planner in me.

I opened up Google and started hunting for places to go, food to try, hidden gems to visit, souvenirs worth buying, and experiences that felt more local than touristy. I even ventured out and explored, figuring out the public transport system like it was a puzzle. It felt like a playground. For the first time, I truly felt the freedom of discovering a new place — and I haven’t looked back since.

Why I Created This Blog

These days, I’m constantly thinking about my next trip and how to fulfil that sense of wanderlust. Unfortunately, my job doesn’t involve travel and taking leave is usually only confirmed a few weeks in advance — so holidays are hard to come by. Travel breaks the monotony of everyday life, but I also know it shouldn’t be something we live solely for (and just being able to say that is a huge privilege).

I’m someone who loves to plan — though I sometimes fall into the trap of over-planning or trying to “min-max” everything. I’m working on that. I love immersing myself in different local cultures and learning about the world in a deeper way. That’s why I started writing — to explore different travel styles and hopefully find what “best” travel looks like for different people.

On one trip, while strolling through unfamiliar streets, I found myself wondering:
Why do I travel?
I still don’t have a full answer. But this blog is part of the journey to find it — and to reflect on how we travel is just as important as where we go.
I also see this as a way to pursue my hobbies, reflect on my experiences, and collect little pieces of the world along the way.
